Finally
the first of three EP’s was released a day before the March
Tour (part one) kicked off…
It
was all hands to the pump at Townsend records as we all waited
with baited breath for the actual discs to arrive back from Singapore
where they were being printed!!! Thankfully they did arrive
ahead of time and it was a case of placing the discs into the
lovely packaging…5 bottles of wine later and it was
completed thanks in the most part to our head honcho at
Townsend towers, Mr Bruce Mckenzie, so a round of applause is
most certainly necessary….
So
far the reaction has been fab, with most people ‘getting’
the concept of receiving Tobe’s new album in 3 three tasty
lumps over the course of about 10 months, and YES the booklet
will be coming with the FINAL Disc around Christmas time…
We
would like to invite anyone who cares to review the EP and
indeed a gig, to send it in to us at the main site and we
shall put them up…
TOUR!!!
TOUR !!! TOUR!!! TOUR !!! TOUR!!! TOUR
!!! TOUR!!! TOUR !!! TOUR!!! TOUR !!!
Ok
we all know the score now, a new band and only a couple of
week’s rehearsals…NERVOUS!!!! You could hear teeth
chattering all the way to Edinburgh!!
Well
I’m happy to report that the nerves were quickly dispensed
with and once Toby and the boys took to the stage at (a rather
compact) Henry’s Cellar.
If
this was a baptism by fire then I say raise those flames
higher Satan and pass me a blow torch cause it simply ain't hot
enough! It was truly HOT! The band performed like they had
been together..well…forever really. The sound is certainly
heavier, but more than that it has become more solid
and dare I say it more serious
and I mean that in a good way. The fun is absolutely still
there but the feel is more deliberate and fuelled by a set of
musicians playing out of their skins. Sure there were hairy
moments, but the overwhelming feeling I got was one of a great
band finding their feet but having a ton of fun doing it!
I
was lucky enough to see most of the shows on the tour and the
band just got better and better as the tour progressed. The
thing that shall remain with me was the new stuff live. It
really came to life, I mean the EP is cool, but live the
tracks rock hard…Talking to Tobe after the Mansfield show, I
asked him how he felt the new tracks were coming on, he said
‘ they are bedding in , we are finding ways of delivering
them and that takes time, we have taken studio tracks and had
to create them on stage which is not as easy as you might
think, but we are getting there now…it is early days but I
am very pleased, the band are working really hard and I have
nothing but praise for them given that they stepped up to the
plate at the last minute…they have proved to me that they
can certainly stay the distance…’ Hear hear I say, this
band has brought a firm direction to the live sound and it
looks as if they are here to stay.
If
you were not able to get to a show on the tour then worry not,
there is Chepstow Castle to come on the 30th June
where Tobe will be special guests to THUNDER
and Rattlesnake
Remedy will be opening (there will also be a couple of
warm up so I will let you know when I do) but the big News is
that.
OTHER
STUFF!!! OTHER STUFF!!! OTHER STUFF!!! OTHER
STUFF!!! OTHER STUFF!!!
Ok,
so it has been an active couple of monthsand it looks set to remain so what with the new stuff
getting recorded soon, the build up to Chepstow and the
announcement of the new tour dates! So keep em
peeled for more dates coming soon…
Andres
is now officially known as ‘Spanish’ and Dave as ‘Steve
Davidson’ don’t ask me, I have no idea…Dean is desperate
to increase his guitar collection and was seen salivating at
yet another Les Paul Junior in Newcastle…There is a rumour
that suggests that there will be a London date in Sept but it
maybe a dual headlining show with another band…
As
ever, I will keep the earlobe to the ground and my nose to the
crotch of rumour to bring you a latest gossip and official
line from this fast developing situation…
Yours
as ever
